Cave Cottle
Completed in April 2025, Cave Cottle was a highly collaborative renovation in New Acton East — designed to bring new life, warmth and character to a unique apartment for a creative family of three. With a shared love of design, music, art, and architecture, the clients wanted their home to reflect their passions while solving several layout and functionality challenges.
Working alongside architect MYMYMY, N W E Interior Design, and a skilled team of trades — including Crown Kitchens & Joinery, Vero Galleria, and Fusion Painting — we reimagined the apartment from entry to retreat. The original floor plan, while generous, had quirks that compromised flow and light, particularly in the kitchen and master bedroom. We helped implement design solutions that reallocated space from the third bedroom into the adult retreat and living zones, improving both comfort and connection.
The renovation focused on texture, tone and function — with minimal white, and layered materials like Poplar burl veneer joinery and Santa Margherita stone adding depth and drama. We created a defined entrance lobby with custom joinery for coats and shoes, upgraded the kitchen with integrated appliances and a hidden pantry, and reworked the laundry to include a drying rack. We also supported the family’s love of art and books with dedicated wall space and bespoke joinery.
Lighting was another key feature — replacing overhead downlights with a more atmospheric mix of pendants, wall lights and lamps. The result is a space full of soul and personality, built for living and creating in equal measure.
