G+K Hughes

We completed the G+K Hughes project in February 2025 — a vibrant, light-filled renovation and custom carpentry job for a young family who value time together, good food, music, and entertaining. Their brief was simple but clear: a space that felt functional, warm and full of personality.

In close collaboration with architect MYMYMY and several skilled trades, we reworked the kitchen, pantry, dining, living, lounge, water closet and ensuite. Drawing on mid-century and art deco influences, we delivered a layout that flowed effortlessly between family and entertaining zones — with custom details that made the space truly their own.

Material selection played a huge role in shaping the outcome. We used Thor’s Hammer recycled blackbutt flooring for warmth and texture and paired it with bold stone from Vero Galleria — including Calacatta Vagli Oro in the kitchen, Santa Margherita in the laundry and Rosso Orobico in the ensuite. Double-glazed Miglas 'Aliclad' timber windows brought in natural light while boosting performance. Every detail was designed with longevity, beauty and functionality in mind.
